Travel Mug Packed? Cauldryn Heads to Outdoor Retailer!

Cauldryn and Outdoor Retailer head to Denver

This year marks Cauldryn’s second Summer Show at Outdoor Retailer, and we couldn’t be happier to join our friends old and new in the mile high city of Denver to show off a new travel mug! As the first Outdoor Retailer Summer Show in Denver, we headed west from St. Louis for a week of festivities, showcases, and excitement with the outdoor community.

Day 1

By the time most of Denver was waking up to their morning alarms on the first day of the show, Cauldryn was already in the ABC Denver studio showcasing our latest travel mug before the crowds could even arrive at our booth. The day became jam-packed with industry reunions, meet and greets, and seminars. Not to mention the new friends we made at the industry party that capped off the first day with live music, food and drinks at the industry party!

The Travel Mug That Brews Coffee AND Keeps It Hot All Day

Cauldryn introduces a smarter travel mug, Cauldryn Coffee

Introducing the Cauldryn Coffee

After becoming the first travel mug to boil water from a rechargable battery, we went back to the drawing board came back with a travel mug ready to do more. Introducing Cauldryn Coffee!

Cauldryn Coffee is a 16 oz. travel mug allowing, coffee, tea or any hot beverage enthusiasts the ability to maintain liquid temperatures for up to 10 hours.

How it Works

The Cauldryn Coffee uses a battery, a thermostat, and a heating element to maintain your desired temperature and a temperature sensor inside the unit and constantly monitors your drink. Once the liquid starts to cool the heating element is engaged. The travel mug itself is vacuum insulated stainless steel to minimize heat loss. To adjust your Cauldryn you can manually press the buttons on the LCD screen to adjust the temperatures between 78°-212°F. You can also use the Cauldryn app to adjust the temperature of your beverage via a Bluetooth connection in the bottle.
Not only that, the Cauldryn Coffee will soon work in harmony with a line of Bluetooth connected add-ons! The Cauldryn® Coffee will launch to consumers online and in stores, August of 2018.

The Cauldryn Is A Travel Mug That Boils Or Keeps Your Drink Warm Using The Fyre Heating Element

Some travel mugs aren’t fit for long days, but Rasp and Rivet summed it up perfectly – there’s hope. Our insulated travel mug is made to keep up with your day and keep your coffee hot. Check out the full review here to see what Rasp and Rivet had to say about the Cauldryn’s features and durability.

thermal mug

One of the greatest issues facing travel muggers is having to glug on glacial grog.

Coffee (or any other beverage) doesn’t stay warm forever, even if it’s kept in the world’s best travel mug.

I don’t mind cold coffee. I’ll lick a block of ice if it’s laced with coffee.

But for many coffee aficionados, the idea of drinking cold coffee is akin to drinking baby mice wine. It’s not going to happen.

If cold coffee gives you the chills and every travel mug you’ve tried leaves you dissatisfied, there’s hope.

Number 6 Brands has created a prototype travel mug that keeps your drink warm using an element.

It reminds of those USB cup warmers you plug into your computer, but more advanced.

I emailed Jason Shinn, co-founder of Number 6 Brands, to get more info on their product, which they call the Cauldryn. He was kind enough to answer.

Let’s take a look!

The Cauldryn Fyre Insulated Travel Mug Is The Common Ground Between Technology and Nature

Summer adventures are just beginning and Cauldyn’s insulated travel mug should be on the top of your packing list.

Keeping Technology Close

Hiking in the mountains is a sight to see. You venture out for a couple hours and finally, after that last exhausting stretch, you’re standing at the peak with views of connecting mountains and waterways wrapping around them like ribbons.

What’s the first thing you do? Take out your phone to capture a picture.

While it’s quite unhealthy to live through your phone, there is, in fact, a way for nature and technology to coexist. Having a multipurpose innovation like a Cauldryn travel mug is a prime example of why having technology with you on adventures can be such a necessity.

Emergencies

So, you’re hiking up a mountain, fall, and break your ankle. Your friend whips out a phone, but they used up all the battery life trying to take a good selfie to post on their Snapchat story. Now what?

Having a power source to charge your phone could save you from limping to find help. Cauldryn has a rechargeable battery USB port for your phone charger and other devices. Eventually your phone will die out in the wilderness, but if you have tool with the versatility of a Cauldryn you have a cushion to fall back-on in times of need – like sending a Snapchat. Just kidding.

Efficiencies

Let’s start with water. You’ve spent the day hiking that peak and drank all your water bottles. Survival 101: don’t drink from a backwoods stream. Sure, you could boil water over a fire… or you could speed up the process by boiling it in a Cauldryn travel mug.

And then there’s food. Again, you could cook some fish over fire (after the hassle of catching and killing it) or use Cauldryn’s boil setting to cook up your favorite soup, vegetable, or even meat. Yeah, a steak and boiled potato dinner in the middle of the woods can be thing.

The Versatility of Cauldryn

Nature is no place to have your head stuck in a phone or rely on technology. We hike, camp, fish, and go on adventures to experience the natural beauty we often neglect throughout our busy days. But instead of viewing technology and the outdoors to be incompatible, we should take on a new perspective that suggests them to be complementary to one another.

About Cauldryn Fyre

The Cauldryn Fyre system will forever change the way you consume hot beverages. Using its revolutionary Fyre heating element, you now have the power to boil or brew liquids and maintain your favorite temperature all day with just the click of a button. The rechargeable battery is the only power you need to bring 32° F, liquid water to boil. With Cauldryn, a boil is just a click away. The Cauldryn Travel Mug Is The Key To Water Purification

Ever think an insulated travel mug would be a survival tool?

Watching Naked and Afraid or Survivor won’t make you a skilled survivalist. Sure, you may watch these kinds of shows enough to know the first things to do when you find yourself embracing nature are find a place to camp and make a fire before the sun goes down.

But if you were stranded in the wilderness, at what point does your mind begin to conflict with what you know vs. what you think you know?

Misconception

As enticing as it may seem to kneel on the ground and scoop water from a river into your parched mouth, most of us know not to drink from a backwoods stream. Though, most of us think, “I need to boil the water for ten to twenty minutes before I can drink it.” Most of us are wrong.

Waterborne pathogens such as bacteria, protozoa, and viruses can be killed at high temperatures – but that doesn’t mean you need to bring the water to a rolling boil.

The Facts

Water boils at 212° Fahrenheit. However, according to the World Health Organization, pathogens can be killed or inactivated at a water temperature of 158° F in less than a minute.

It’s important to note that boiling temperatures change with altitude. The boiling point at sea level is 212° F, but if you’re at a height of 2,000 ft, the boiling temperature of water drops to 208.4° F. Therefore, the boiling point reduces as you get higher in altitude.

The Future of Survival

Whether it’s a camping trip or very unfortunate situation, people in the wilderness will probably use some sort of pot to purify water over a fire. Depending on how skilled you are in fire-starting and the amount of time it takes to heat the water, you’ll probably stay thirsty for a while.

With the Cauldryn travel mug, you can skip the hassle of over-the-fire cooking and purify water in moments. Setting it to level two will kill the pathogens at 160-170° F. Still don’t trust the facts? Bump it up to level three, four, or five if you want. Cauldryn can reach 212° at its maximum level to not only ensure sterilization, but also cook foods like soups, oatmeal, hard boiled eggs, and vegetables.

So next time you find yourself in survival mode, know your facts from your myths. Having a Cauldryn might help, too.

Cauldryn Fyre Travel Mug Ranked In Best New Gear Awards

What’s the Best part of the Cauldryn Fyre travel mug?

When Gear Institute – the leading authority of the coolest new gear for outdoor enthusiasts – headed out to find the most innovative new gear at the Outdoor Retailer show it didn’t take them long to find Cauldryn and our innovative thermal travel mug.

Here is what they had to say following the show.

Meet the world’s first self-heating water bottle. Using rechargeable battery power (from AC or DC outlets), users can choose a few different settings to heat up liquid: boil, brew, hot and extra hot. The battery charge can provide up to two boils or a boil and some duration (undisclosed as of yet) of keeping the drink warm after that. We love this idea for snow days and car trips where coffee shops are scarce, and there’s not time to whip out a stove to brew up.

Cauldryn promises battery powered boiling in the wild, no flame required

What if there was a battery powered boiling travel mug to assist you on your next outdoor adventure?

Check out this review here or read below to see what New Atlas had to say about the Cauldryn Fyre Mobile.

When you’re venturing into the wilderness, the ability to quickly boil water is convenient and, potentially, crucial for maintaining good hygiene. Although fire and a saucepan is one way to get your water bubbling away, a St Louis-based team has an alternative solution in the form of Cauldryn, a battery-powered mug.

thermal mug
Thermal Mug helps campers boil water

According to its creators, the secret to the Cauldryn’s on-the-go heating capability is the Fyre heating element, which attaches to the base of a vacuum-insulated 16-oz (473 ml) bottle, and can be set to four different temperatures: Hot (125-135° F/52-57° C), Extra Hot (160-170° F/71-77° C), Brew (195-205° F/91-96° C) and Boil (212° F/100° C).

In a time lapse video posted on the product’s crowdfunding page, it takes 18 minutes to turn ice blocks into boiling water. The more expensive Fyre Mobile is powered by a rechargeable battery good for two full boils, although it can also be powered using a DC wall plug. The base model doesn’t include a battery, but the mug’s modular nature allows one to be added later on.

Battery-powered mugs or flasks that keep beverages hot are nothing new, but being able to boil water is a handy step forward from what others like the Yecup offer. Launched last year, the Yecup is able to heat liquid to 158° F (70° C) and cool it to 50° F (10° C). Cauldryn says the vacuum-sealed design of its bottle also allows it to keep drinks cool, while the ability to boil water is a huge advantage.

At the moment, Cauldryn is the subject of a crowdfunding campaign on IndieGogo, where it has raised more than 40 percent of its US$10,000 goal with 11 days remaining. Pledging $50 is enough to reserve a Cauldryn Fyre with no battery, while the Fyre Mobile sits at the $100 pledge level. Should the crowdfunding campaign be successful, deliveries are set to take place in October this year.

The Cauldryn Fyre Thermal Travel Mug Uses a Battery to Boil Its Contents

We make camping easy! Thanks to Joey Haar at Trend Hunter for the great review on our thermal travel mug, the Cauldryn Fyre.

Boiling water is one of the most frustrating rote chores that comes with camping, and the Cauldryn Fyre is a new piece of camping gear that effectively eliminates the task altogether. The 16 ounce water bottle uses a battery-powered heater to boil water directly inside it, and its insulation system ensures that the fluid will stay hot for hours.

Bringing water to a boil while camping takes more than simply waiting around the fire. Because of the intense and sustained heat required, boiling means continuously tending to the campfire, and it also means that campers need an ample stock of firewood. With the Cauldryn Fyre, the only thing that needs to be full is the battery, which can boil two full bottles of water on a single charge.
